This is a story about a mixing pot.
Honolulu in the 1920's was a free-for-all. Far from American Statehood, and only recently annexed, Native Hawaiians, Americans, soldiers, and immigrants from China, Japan, the Philippines, Spain and Portugal, all fought to establish a life as the world became more modern and more connected.
This unique, pre-American culture is completely unexplored in film and television. It’s a place where race and creed mixed, and cultural erasure was a matter of survival. In a time where we celebrate our cultural differences, it’s important to look back at a time when it wasn’t so easy.
Snowy Egret is a gritty love story and an action crime saga. The audience crossover would come from fans of Peaky Blinders, the Agatha Christie ‘murder’ films, period dramas, and fans of ‘old fashioned’ hand to hand action.
